Education
My name is Mrs. Rachel Garner, and I graduated in December 2009 from Georgia Southwestern State University in Americus, Georgia.  I graduated magna cum laude and am a member of the Alpha Chi Honor Society.  I continued my education by becoming gifted certified in 2011.
Experience
I have spent the last ten years teaching in Douglas County in a wonderful second grade classroom.  While teaching, I served on the school's leadership team, school culture committee, and was staff development chair.  I also love school spirit, and was delighted to coach our charter school's middle school cheerleading squad.
Prior to teaching, I worked as a nurse specialized in respiratory therapy and critical care transport in the Emergency Room at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, Georgia.
Bio
Hello!  My name is Mrs. Rachel Garner, and I am delighted to introduce myself to you!  I have been married for 19 years to my husband Gary, and we have 2 wonderful children. My son Austin is in his sophomore year of high school and plays soccer with his school's team.  My daughter Megan will be attending  her eighth grade year at Temple Middle School.  Megan cheers and sings, and is equally excited to be a Temple Tiger!  I enjoy reading and time with my family; whether that be at the beach, Six Flags, or just relaxing at home.  I am ecstatic to join the staff of PES, and to be teaching fourth grade ELA!
The school's stellar reputation is the primary reason I chose to continue my career at Providence Elementary School.  As a teacher, I understand that working at Providence Elementary, a school that boldly sets and achieves high standards of excellence, is an honor.  Thank you for your warm welcome!  I am excited to be here, and look forward to teaching engaging, research based lessons as we learn, laugh, and grow together on our journey!
